So King Man had an excellent record of nearly 18 years'
service under Government of which 13 were with the corps
and he had twice received promotion in the clerical service, the second promotion being as recent as 1st January, 1929. It may be added that during the period over which the defalcations occurred the permanent Sergeant-Major of the corps was absent on home leave, his work being performed by an acting officer, who had also full-time duties in
another department.
